I am a born again Christian. By definition I believe homosexuality is a sin. But I also believe same-sex marriage should be 110% legal – zero ifs, ands, or buts.
The hypocrisy of the Christian Right to stand up against the legality of same-sex marriage based on the Bible’s definition of sin is astonishing. It is inexcusable.
The Christian faith believes sex before marriage, sex outside of marriage, greed, jealousy, selfishness, the love of money and taking God’s name in vain are sins. Are these sins illegal?
My stance on Islam is evolving as I delve deeper into the topic. My initial reaction to Milo Yiannopoulos’ 110% anti-Islam stance is that of disgust…but unfortunately the more I look at hard data the tougher it is becoming to remain disgusted (chiefly, 8% of United States Muslims believe it is ‘sometimes appropriate to use suicide bombing’).
One of my biggest problems at present is Islam’s stance on homosexuality: it ranges from ‘moderate’ – homosexual intercourse should be made illegal – to extreme – death to homosexuals.
Let’s take a poll of Christians and see what % believe homosexual intercourse should be made illegal, and what % believe homosexuals should die. Seriously, I want to know…
Christians should be condemned for not taking the ‘plank’ out of their own eyes before standing for the illegality of same-sex marriage (hint: the plank cannot be removed). But when elevating religions for debate on a global scale, let’s please level the playing field.
